On this amazing route Uncharted Kite Sessions is super excited to join forces with Surfin Sem Fim head coach and 3 time World Wave Champion Guilly Brandão for what promises to be an amazing week of discovering the beauty of the Parnaiba Delta and Brazil. Unlike our other trip where we cover a lot of distance every day, this is a very pleasant variant of the Delta route, where you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the Delta do Parnaiba, and Lençois Maranhenses.
On this route, we will spend several days at Ilha dos Poldros where we will do some awesome downwinders and chill in an amazing natural environment. This will allow us to take extra time for coaching, as well as the opportunity to explore the back river system of the Parnaiba where we’ll take a river jungle night safari looking for caimans and iguanas, as well as find the beautiful Guara bird indigenous to the area. At the end of the trip we’ll spend 2 nights in Atins, where we will kite on the world famous Lençois Maranhenses dunes & lagoons.
We will downwind through 2 different states of Brazil, Piauí and Maranhão. Along the route the coaches will have the freedom to ride along the group and spend time with every rider. On this route the landscape starts to change a lot, as this is the transition area between the dry northeast region to the wet and green Amazon forest. There will be more rivers, dunes, mangroves, forest, as civilization becomes scarcer.
This trip is geared towards intermediate riders who have more experience in 1-2m waves and are progressing with wave riding; who have done multiple downwinders; who are confident of their ability to kite for at least 3 hours per day; and can ride toe-side for short distances. Although most days will be under 40km of down wind riding, there are two 70km days that will test the limits of the most experienced kiters.
Join Uncharted Kite Sessions in Brazil for an unbelievable kite surfing experience that you’ll cherish for the rest of your life. This is a once in a lifetime adventure, and a transformative experience in a stunning landscape. Reserve your seat today.

Strength Of Wind
Brazilian spring, being North American fall, are statistically the windiest months of the year with average daily winds ranging around twenty-five plus knots. Most people ride from five to twelve meter kites depending on weight. The wind is predominantly from the east, as is the swell. But as it is Mother Nature, and she is unpredictable, it is better to have a kite and not need it, than to need a kite and not have it.
Wind & Climate
With an average temperature over 30°C (86°F) in the fall, Brazil sun is very intense. Be sure to bring lots of sunscreen with high UV protection. Zinc is always a good idea. Long sleeve UV protection jerseys are also a good idea. Also bring a water hat that can attach to your clothing. If you are used to riding with sunglasses, it is a good idea to bring them.
Do You Need Your Own Gear?
Yes. UKS will have some Slingshot gear for demo, but in limited quantities. Minimum gear to bring: 2 surf boards. 2 bars. 2 kites (3 recommended). Better to have a kite and not need it, than to need a kite and not have it. Day board bag for quick storage and day trips.
***TEST ALL YOUR GEAR BEFORE COMING****
IF YOUR GEAR IS IN QUESTIONABLE CONDITION, REPLACE!
THERE ARE ZERO PLACES TO BUY GEAR ONCE WE LEAVE JERICOACOARA. IF YOUR GEAR BREAKS, AND YOU DON'T HAVE SPARE GEAR, YOU'RE LIMITED TO WATCHING FROM THE TRUCK. AND THAT SUCKS.
